ANNA – TESTIMONIAL
“S & W came to my rescue when they supported me financially to go towards all my expenses.”

1. What did S&W help you with?

My name is Anna and I am so grateful for the financial support I am receiving from Scwab and Westheimer. The Charitable Trust is helping me with funds for my living expenses and study resources. This includes travelling expenses to and from Bradford University, costs for buying study materials and any other daily living expenses as I am studying full time and not working.

2. What was your biggest challenge you faced?

I was working full time when I got a place to study at Bradford University doing an MA in Social Work. I reduced my working hours by half but it was not easy to juggle university work, my job and home life as I have children too. My work started suffering, same as my university work and home life. I was getting more and more stressed and afraid that I would lose both my job and not complete the course successfully. I eventually chose to quit my job but was worried how I was going to manage financially.

3. How did Schwab & Westheimer help you overcome?

S & W came to my rescue when they supported me financially to go towards all my expenses as mentioned above. This support was for a few months, but the Trustees reviewed my financial situation and they referred me to the Refugee Support Network, who made an assessment of my financial situation and recommended me to S & W for further support. The day that Paola (S & W Administrator) rang me with good news that the Trustees had agreed to support me every month until I finish my course in 2016, I broke down in tears. I was so overjoyed; I could not believe it and I considered myself blessed. I am ever so grateful and thank the whole organisation and its Trustees for this generosity. To Paola, a heartfelt thank you, she is empathetic, listens, and is kind and caring.

4. What are your dreams for the future?

I am studying so hard and I cannot see anything standing in my way to hinder a successful completion of my MA in Social Work, and working as a Social Worker, giving back to the Community what has been given to me.
